Heat meltdown makes for a better NBA

Finally!!!!

What I have been preaching all along is finally coming to fruition. The NBA is a better place without a mass gathering of superstars. I hope players around the NBA take notice and realize players with similar playing styles can not co-exist. If nothing at all, the Miami Heat have proved that they will not be able to compete by having a collection of 3 All-Stars and supporting cast of rejects and players that should be on a golf course in Arizona. Sure they will make the playoffs, but it is because of the watered down NBA. They simply can not compete against the better TEAMS such as the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and Dallas Mavericks.

The concept of team for them was thrown out of the window when they made a mockery of the NBA by celebrating in WWE fashion. They came out with fire works and music blazing for the American Airlines arena. There were only 2 problems. They didn’t have any other teammates on the stage with them nor had they even played together yet. They basically walked on stage as if that was enough to win the NBA title. Their arrogance far exceeded their desire to play team ball.

The people out their can blame the Celtics if they want for forming their “Big Three”. But there was a huge difference. They were all past their prime and were willing to play diminished roles for the greater good. Neither of them have put up comparable numbers to what their career stats show, but they knew that coming in. They all had important roles and have a team concept that is synonymous with championship teams.

Now it’s not to say that it can’t work completely. If you had LeBron James and Chris Bosh with no Dwayne Wade or Wade and Bosh with no Lebron it could have worked out great. The extra money could have been put towards two or three high quality players and then the ball would go through either Wade or Lebron. But when two of your players have the same skill sets, it makes it difficult to distribute the ball.

So now what? The team is falling apart, fingers are being pointed, and Eric Spoelstra is basically on his way out. But they still have a problem in upcoming seasons where they can not sign any players except for mid-level exceptions which in this league will not cut it. The NBA can bail out the Heat though by raising the salary cap so they can add more quality players.
If they really want to win the title as bad as they claim they do, Wade, James, and Bosh should take a pay cut to relieve some cap space. But once again that would mean them understanding the concept of team and that clearly has eluded them.
